Can you win? Can you play defense? Is there a national cheerleading league? Is there such a thing as
a cheerleading field/court? Are there specifications for the equipment you use? Do they have jersey
numbers?
Cheerleading is missing many components of an actual sport. Its nothing but a side attraction at
other sports. |

I do not believe it is a sport unless it is done in a cheerleading competition. In sports, teams
compete against each other. In basic cheerleading, there really is no competition. If the
cheerleaders are competing against other cheerleading teams in a competition, then it can be
considered a sport. However, in order to a sport, there has to be that competitive component. So, I
am half for this debate, and half against this debate. Cheerleading is very physical, but that alone
does not make it a sport. Cheerleaders help the sporting teams, they are not the sport itself. |

Cheerleading, like gymnastics, is nothing but a form of dancing and prancing around. Calling them
sports is like calling Poker a "sport".
A sport is an event decided by measurement and rules or scoring based upon measurement and rules. |
