It is just an empty phrase such as much of the campaign promises most politicians indulge in and
fail to follow-through on when elected into office....
Obama is just another politician....why the surprise?
Politics is a dirty business and not known for honesty and integrity expressed in deeds.
He is no better nor any worse than the others though. |

NObama needs to get a new phrase. Especially now that he has Biden.
Cheny is to Bush as Biden is to NObama
same old rhetoric from the dems. |

I'm afraid to find out which direction of change this wonderful country would take if someone who
sat under an antiamerican preacher for 20 yrs and his wife is just now proud to be an American. ????
I'm very proud to live in the greatest country in the world no matter what happens. |

In my state we just had an election for governor with a candidate very similar to Obama, in fact
they are very good friends. This guy's phrase was "YES WE CAN!" He never really said yes we can
what...but he and his hordes of people would mindlessly chant "YES WE CAN!". He never made any
specific plans or even promises other than there would be change.
He was elected in a landslide, and has been at the job for about a year. There is no change at all.
Nothing has changed except he wants casinos (i never really understood how casinos are a liberal
core value).
In the end we have an empty suit doing nothing, and his approval rating is in the dumps. It will be
4 years of nothingness. |

Change... In our democracy? Our government may be corrupt, but it is by far one of the best in the
world.
Obama is not fit to run in my opinion. He has very little experience, and this is very evident.
When a supporter of Mr. Obama was asked about his accomplishments in the 'O Reilly Factor, he went
blank... And as follows:
Supporter (Texas, D): "Uh, well, see, I really don't think that that matter, because he is a great
guy-"
O'Reilly: "Of course it matters!"
Supporter: " Um... You see, well, I cannot name any, but he has the potential."

Another thing is he gets stumped frequently by questions, as he is not familiar with a large amount
of the issues, as demonstrated in this recording:

I agree cuz on one of his interviews this is what happened:
Obama: I want to bring change!
Reporter: What kind of change?
Obama: Change! |

Obama's entire campaign has been mawkish and cheesy, including the elusive "change" mantra, Oprah's
inspirational messages, the mesmerized, chanting followers and the truly absurd belief that this
Democratic candidate can be everything to everyone, and unite people of all ideological backgrounds.
The sort of adoration that people openly demonstrated for Obama and the complete lack of critical
thinking skills shown by journalists and pundits who looked on in awe is more becoming of a
pseudo-democratic, underdeveloped country, like Belarus or Uzbekistan. One would assume that a
country like the US, which has a tradition of democracy, would shy away from personality cults, yet
this is precisely what has been built up around Obama. Barack's "bitter" remarks and his pastor's
crazed sermons may have frightened off some independent and undecided voters from supporting him,
but all of this did little to dampen the inexplicable and cultish enthusiasm felt by his supporters. |

They all do it. Somewhere back in time it came to be...the US population does not want details, it
wants broad statements like that. I guess it reminds them of being in a sports arena, I don't know. |

Not to mention, that when Obama uses it, he makes it out as the only way to have change is to vote
for him.......... Or you're a racist. |

It's not a very resonant phrase, for sure, but it makes a serious point. Change is obviously in the
air after the disastrous Bush years so all candidates are marketing themselves as the candidates for
change. Yet Hillary and McCain ape Bush in many of their policy positions, including in those areas
where Bush's performance might be judged worst of all : The foreign policy sphere, and the practice
of demagogic fear-mongering, hyping up irrational and unjustified fears about foreign threats and
allowing those fears to shape many aspects of government policy. |

Actually, he's not using it any more because Hillary started using it too. But the thing is, Obama
means it. All politicians use slogans and this is far far better than "Just say no", "Tippecanoe and
Tyler too", or "43 58 or bust!". |
