Canadians Are More Keen To Wear Their National Flag Than Any Other Nation.
Virtually every Canadian I have ever met has the maple leaf somewhere on their person. Whether it be on their backpack, shirt, cap or a tattoo. I asked them why this was. They told me it was because they didn't want anyone to confuse them for Americans.

Before I read the explanation I thought it must be tied to the fact that they are always being asked if they are American. So they have a good enough reason to display the fact they are not.

The Brits must be a close second. Not because the might get mixed up with someone else though.

That's because, in groups, we're better than Americans. We don't want to be mistaken for them because not a lot of people like them. For example, I'm living in Germany because of the Military, and Friends of ours went out for supper. When their food came, the subject came up that they were Canadian and not American, the Waiter took their food away and brought back different food. I don't want to know what to know what was wrong with the other stuff.

It's funny that they don't want to be considered Americans.

Isn't wearing a countries team shirt the same as wearing your flag?
So no, i do not think they are

a vast majority of sports supporters wear their countries strips.

Yes it is. I have just found that every Canadian I have ever met on my travels (ok this only amounts to about 30 or so) has the maple leaf symbol on display somewhere about their person.

Are they? Scottish people would proudly wear their flags anywhere. A few individuals would be very 'keen'.
