Bruno Is Highly Offensive And Enforces Negative Stereotypes.
From start to finish it is offensive and uncomfortable viewing. It doesn't laugh at the stereotpes, it enforces them. I was hoping to laugh at some right wing nuts but I couldn't even do that. It isn't just offensive to gays but a variety of groups. Still can't post comments or see yours.

Yes it does. BUT I have to report I saw it in a theatre on Provincetown Cape Cod which was packed with about a 90% gay and lesbian audience - and everyone loved it. They were laughing harder at it than anyone.

Yeah, this seems the right side to vote on. Anybody know what the "elite" think of the movie?

I never seen it but would imagine so...

That being said...
Outrageous is what is in. Obscene is in. One time, being simply gay was a big difference and crazy. Now that your 'normal' in an evolving society, it does hurt getting the new push you around. But it's ok. No one likes whats old. That is why traditions are disliked by new moderates. Eminem became popular on vulgarity. Howard Stern is vulgar. 50 Cent talks about shooting people. Gay isn't the only evil in the world. We have been consumed by the ideas of rape, gangbanging, robbery, shooting, and endorsing such lifestyles. That is our modern culture.

I am sure Bruno is a blip on the radar. That cannot be compared to governments acting like mafias and other evils that numb smaller evils by using humans lives as the ultimate vice.

I commiserate but that's just a movie.

It's nice that you agree but you can only really agree if you've seen the movie. I thought it was all very forced and just trying to insult people. Is it the subject matter that you find offensive and you are just presuming you will be insulted? If you reply I'll probably being using my psp again so I won't be able to reply back sorry, And gay isn't an evil at all.

I would not touch that movie with a ten foot pole.

Oh my gosh Kddan, we have found common ground.

P.S. It's GREAT being a right-wing nut!

Oh my God. It's a comedy movie! It's supposed to seem offensive and portray negative stereotypes. That's why its funny. If it didn't, it would just be another boring movie.

Erm... Well actually, I found Bruno very funny. And it's not enforcing stereotypes! Or do you believe that to be gay is to walk around half-naked all the time and screw your personal assistant? You're reading far too much into it.

It enforces stereotypes about campness and gays being sex mad or promisicous. Also the homophobia demonstrated comes from the very worst sources imaginable one being the westboro baptist church. It doesn't tackle why regular people have their own homophobic notions.

A group will never achieve equality unless you can safely crack jokes about them.

That is quite a philosophical statement, however, would you be politically correct if you tried to achieve equality for them, and were the one cracking the jokes Homie?

Bruno is the epitome of every 'Gays' goal! No wonder you 'GAYS' who are trying to take over the world knock him, he's shown you up for what you are: ''GAY!''

No. Cohen and other idiots like him (Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey Dane Cook, etc.) are an insult to the intelligence.

I grew up on smart comedy - Bill Cosby, Wayne & Shuster, Monty Python, George Carlin, etc. - and have neither the time nor interest in low-brow nonsense. If you want funny, go rent "A Fish Called Wanda" or "Life Of Brian".

Did you not see Borat? Bruno is poking fun at how idiotic people are and judgemental they are. Personally I find it hilarious, as I did Borat.

AYE I agree Borat was great, but Ali was brilliant. Cohen is an extremely educated intelligent performer unlike those across there on the FOR SIDE!

Well I think that was the point of the movie--to be offensive, sort of like the theatrical version of Eminem...except I actually liked 8-Mile. Anyway, getting back to the Bruno movie, I thought it was somewhat entertaining although I was slightly inebriated, which could have helped my view of the movie a tad.

I'm with LordDaniel on this one; Cohen is a showman, simple as that. If you don't like his stuff, then don't watch it. The simple fact that Cohen has his worst critics watching his movies just to get a shot in at him means he's doing something right.

Sacha Baron Cohen has already been threatened by Palestinian terrorists over this film. And, what, now the gay community are having a go at him? How can you possibly knock the man kddan, do you think you could play the flamboyant Austrian homosexual character any better?

Cohen's a showman, one of the greats, you either love him or hate him, but you will not find any better in the world...;-)

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I concurr with LordDaniel. No one could have played Bruno or Borat better than Sacha Baron Cohen. The man's a comical genius!
