I agree. New, bound books are a luxury. In a recession, we buy used books, or go without. |

I think it's probably got more to do with Amazon and the such. I'm sure there are lots of other
retailers that are finding internet shopping has killed or is in the process of killing their
business. |

It's sort of an association-without-causation situation. While the e-book revolution isn't solely
responsible for the Borders bankruptcy, it is overtaking the bound book market; especially combined
with services like Amazon that allow consumers to shop from the comfort of their homes, usually for
cheaper than going to a bookstore. Bookstores still hold the market for browsing, but especially
with the economy as it is, people aren't buying books just to buy books - they buy specific titles
for a reason. |
