| 'Bipartisanship Is Overrated.... |
| I thought it meant coming together for the common good. Our politicians have shown that in actuality it simply is a way that they can give each other enough 'pork' that they will vote for anything. |

Bipartisanship just leads to political stand-offs. This is why congress never accomplishes anything. |

Checks and balances are part of US constitution to limit the dominance of one branch over the
other--and this is a good thing for the reasons Jake mentioned. Perhaps, the Federal courts could
use a bit of rework since they are set up for life and that's a bit much; as a lot of good folks can
get kind of rotten if they are protected too much and for too long in their power positions. I like
a good debate and not so keen on compromise. Oftentimes a good idea gets watered down with too much
compromise (bipartisanship). This is not always true but often enough. An extreme analogy to
bipartisanship might be the following: Who benefits when a liar and honest man agree to compromise.
Not a perfect analogy but is applicable to some degree. |
