I don't think it was a bitchslap but I think Palin was definitely outplayed by Biden. All Palin did
was attempt to stroke the egos of Americans by saying how great America is and how it is the
greatest place in the world. Uhh...okay, as if this isn't common knowledge, but tell me something
that you plan to do to fix our great nation Mrs. Palin. I listened to Biden's speech and he had
exact details and statistics while Palin simply generalized the questions and danced around. What
happened to all that "straight talk?" Yeah sure, she can try and relate to "Joe Six-Pack" and all
those hockey moms, but I'm a pretty average guy and I was insulted by her speech; to think that she
can win me by simply trying to talk Americans up? C'mon now...listening to parts of her speech where
she threw in all this fluff was shameful. Again, Biden didn't slap her down...she might as well have
done it to herself. Humiliating. |

Palin performed marginally better than during the Couric interviews, but that's not saying much. All
that Palin did during the debate was throw about a few campaign slogans and one-liners. Her best
moment was when she asked Biden if she could call him Joe. It all went downhill from there. Mind
you, perhaps she eventually became much more substantive, but I missed it as I switched back to the
Canadian all-leaders debate. We're heading towards our own federal election in 10 days and the near
certain re-election of the Tory government.
Palin is like an over-confident PTA mom, who will never admit that she's got a problem. When I saw
her latest Couric trainwreck on YouTube (about newspapers and the Supreme Court), I found it so
cringeworthy that I had to pause the clip twice. The poor woman was utterly clueless and so clearly
out of her depth that it was painful to watch. |

Wow. I lowered my expectations of Palin and she met me there with a veritable feast of mediocrity.
(I think I even spotted Joe Sixpack setting the table! Or, was that Biden?) Should I be content or
feel happy? I think not.
Biden bitchslapped Palin to the back of the alley, merely by virtue of his presence and demeanor.
Yes, while I ain't a fan of him, I have to say Biden displayed an authenticity and wealth of
knowledge on the issues, relative to Palin. Doesn't seem all that great an accomplishment though.
But, she did better this time in her performance than she has, so far, during this election. |

Biden certainly had all the bases covered; however it is not too hard to understand why our congress
has a lower approval rating than even the President, they are tremendously culpable for the
economic/political/social decline for a number of years and the public knows it. Perhaps there is
something to be said about a "fresh outlook", unspoiled and untainted, enthusiastic mind of someone
from a "high school debate class." |

As much as I'd have liked to see Biden run away with it the truth is Palin did pretty well. I still
think Biden's answers had a level of detail and understanding and fact which surpassed Palin's, but
then again I'm not sure enough of the voters are sharp enough to care. A lot of them are cheering
on Palin as a representative of the commoner (not me, I really don't think she is). Anyway, it was
a close debate. Yes I think Biden won. But yes the polls are saying Palin had the edge. |

I can’t agree. He certainly displayed a much greater knowledge of the subject matter and by
traditional debate standards he won. However public political debates are as much an image and
popularity contest as anything. Palin stayed cool, and avoided making a fool of herself by avoiding
a lot of questions. I think that the people that wanted her to do well will be convinced she did do
well. It kind of reminded me of the Carter-Reagan debates. |
