I agree -i am male-
But i do think that men, and even women, have this whole cliché stereotype view on how woman and
men must act. Also that woman are below men and must be house wives, not mention not have a dream or
future in anything else while men have to bear the weight of supporting the whole family financially
by himself...
What is funny is that a man can be a wife and a woman can be a husband, since the words wife and
husband are technically brands (has to be non marriage terms btw) to activities done in a nuclear
environment and have no complete direct connection with the sex of a person...

I feel and think differently than this debate.
It makes me feel safe, and warm inside, and I feel.....Feminine......and wonderful, when a man,
gently cares for me.
I am so happy by the sweetness of the acts of doors held for me, for the chair pulled out, for the
general protectiveness of the man.....
I thought all women felt like I do.
Guess not, in things like this.
We ARE all different.
Personally, I love it.
The manners are lovely, and it comes across to me as Respect and also Consideration.
It makes me want to be loving in return.....I feel differently than this debate, and I can only
assure you that I also am very much a woman, so this would include my viewpoint as well.
Thank you :-) |

"Sexism" is defined as abusive behavior, which is bad. I assume though that "benevolent sexism" is a
different term with a different meaning of "pulling out chairs and holding doors." I do those
mannerly things because I was raised to respect my (1) superiors, (2) elders, and (3) women. For no
particular reason. I do not expect my female coworkers to offer me sexual favors when I hold a door.
Nor do I expect anything from my wife when I give her presents, take the baby so she can go out, rub
her shoulders, etc. It's called being nice.
Now, in the animal kingdom, males do many things to attract females: Dance, sing, fight, build
nests, etc. The female then chooses which male to mate with based on their abilities. Human men and
women are very similar. Men go to great lengths to demonstrate their virtues in the hopes that women
will want to be with them. The choice is entirely in the hands of the woman.
Now, if the man thinks he *deserves* sex because he paid for dinner, he is grossly mistaken.
However, the virtues and traditions of the many should not be condemned for the errors or crimes of
the few. |

People are not born equal in any way. That guy over there was born with aids and diabetes and will
only live 2 weeks. This guy was born perfectly well and may live to be 100 years. That guy over
there, you know him, everybody knows him, was born without the ability to move his legs and has to
be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. She was born with very strong legs and a healthy body
that may allow her to become a sports star one day. Is that equal? What about the people born with
retardation? Is that equal? Sorry had to get the equal part out of the way.
Yes i agree with you though sexism, in which one partner takes power over the other partner, causes
many social problems between men and woman. It takes only one sexist to ruin a woman's hopes on
every man. |
