My perception of beauty has nothing to do with the color of ones skin; it has to do with the beauty
inside of them. |

Yeah most people are beautiful they just have to know how to accentuate their better features and to
show their terrific qualities. Not saying that they don't know how it's just that people are beaten
down to think that they are not beautiful because they don't meet the current fashion quotas. The
people who do this are ugly in their personalities to me. |

I agree why don't they have more commercials where the girls aren't size 0. |

Totally.
I've seen nice-looking in all, and not-so-nice-looking in all. |

I agree that beauty should not be based on the color of one's skin.
The reality is that the hegemonic view of beauty is as long standing as the division of labor power
and wealth - not just in this country - but globally. Not just in print, but in TV, on film, in
industry and so on....
People who are seen as inferior and given the work of laborers are not seen as valuable for anything
other than their ability to toil for others.
I find it interesting that people who work so hard for the comfort of others are not seen as worthy
to be recognized as beautiful. The wet nurses. The maids. The cooks. The trash collectors. The
people on the edge of society called middle and low class. Don't they contribute to the overall
appearance - good bad and ugly - of our society?
Therefore, to say that the outward appearance is anything other than appealing for the size of the
musculature or physical ability is rare.
Segregationists and social scientists have, for a long time, attempted to state the inferiority of
certain groups of people and used their outward characteristics as proof of their erroneous
hypotheses.
Stating that the size of ones head, lips, etc were outward proof of intellectual lack was a devisive
ploy which has continued today - as is evident by the lack of visibility of dark skin, broad noses,
and natural unprocessed hair in prominent highly visibility in television and print ads.
I regularly speak on such topics with people who are not jealous about not being in the limelight of
TV or the media.
It is simply an observation of the facts.
People who say they do not notice color and live in a society where it does not matter may wish to
erase color completely and continue to feel justified with the unearned privileges or comfort /
beauty and the perks that follow. |

Right ! Beauty is external AND internal. The colour doesn't matter ! I know ugly white girls and
beautiful black girls and vice versa. Same for fat vs lean. Same for tall vs small or man vs woman.
Beauty is a combination of shape, color, texture, balance and personality. |

I've seen plenty of commercials use models with brown hair and brown eyes and that are mixed and
actually have meat on their bones and things of that such. The worlds has gotten better about these
things. But not everybodies perception of beauty is blonde hair, blue eyes, and skinny. All of the
Victoria secret models aren't blonde haired, and blue eyed, and they aren't so skinny. Everybody has
their own opinion of what's beautiful. The only reason ppl look at it that way is bcuz they aren't
blonde haired, and blue eyed and skinny and they are jealous bcuz they wish they were. |
