In baseball, you barely run around. The only exercises anyone gets is hitting the ball and running to base, which does not happen often. Compare this to sports like soccer and basketball where you really have to run around.
To be good at baseball you need to have strength and hand eye coordination to hit and strength and
muscular endurance to pitch as well as have quick reflexes if you play in the field.....how isn't
that a sport?
Can you throw a ball that fast? Run bases that fast? Swing a bat that hard? Its a sport because it
takes a lot of physical endurance to do these things.
You run around in soccer but people hardly score? What is that all about. You get more points in
baseball than you would in soccer. If you want to run around for nothing, soccer should be called
gymnastics II.
Typical yank, has to have loads of goals/points scored to find it interesting. The fact that there are few goals in FOOTBALL adds to the beauty as a goal becomes a big deal. It is everything that goes with it that makes it the greatest team sport on earth. By your criteria you must love cricket far more than baseball as there are more runs (points) scored.
Baseball may not be exhausting but it does take specialized athletic skill and underlying talent.
Hitting a baseball is statistically the hardest thing to do in sports. And nobody who watched Bo
Jackson collide with Mike Soscia at home plate doubts that you need guts.
But most of all it passes my critical test: It's not sport unless there's a defense trying to stop
you. Baseball has that, where golf, bowling, and figure skating do not.
