| Young People Are As Bad As They Are Made Out To Be |
| I am a youth worker and young person myself and i am currently doing a project on this topic, it was of my own choice and i am very interested in peoples opinions, views thoughts and feelings towards this subject. I myself feel very strongly about the subject and hope to get some good points and bad points from people from many different backgrounds, experiences and age groups. |

Yes- it's simple your right they pick up on what we see and think about them and if it's negative

I think that you probably have a good point here. The general assumption is that teenagers, for
example, are rebellious by nature, that they are difficult to handle and most parents approach this
period of their child's life with apprehension. Yet I think that it has been shown that if someone
is boxed into a certain character frame and is simply assumed to behave in a certain manner for
reasons beyond their direct control, then they will ultimately rebel against the person making these
claims by fitting this stereotype to a 't.'
For example, if someone says that by their very nature, Italians and other Mediterranean peoples
tend to be loud, slightly obnoxious and overly expressive of their emotions, it is more likely that
someone who feels that he/she is being unfairly characterized will not try to prove their opponent
wrong by acting in a different manner, but will actually show a level of disdain by playing out this
stereotype, partly out of the knowledge that the accuser finds this to be annoying. |
