Governments, never do any thing about the reasons kids take or push drugs. Putting them in prison
isn't a cure for it. |

It’s not a matter of right and wrong, it’s simply a matter of ineffectiveness. We have more
people in prison per capita than any other nation in the world yet nearly any drug you care to
mention is easily available. As long as you have a substance that can be made or grown for a few
hundred dollars and sold for thousands bad people will figure out how to take advantage. Say what
you want but stiffer prison sentences are not working, it just drives up the street value which in
turn makes all the related problems worse. |

I'm guessing you are liberal Bill. I would do the exact opposite. The first time offenders (of any
offense) need to be punished completely as warranted. Then maybe they will not do it again. Let them
off "easy' and what lesson is learned? I'm sorry, but this first-time offender status is just
STUPID! It's making a mockery of the law.
The injustice in the law you speak of is laughable. Blacks, while only 13% of the population, commit
50% of it's murders. What about that 'disparity". If the majority of the prison population is black,
might the prisoners themselves something to do with the fact that they are there? Nah, couldn't be
that! |
