| Westerners Are To Blame For The Ozone Layer Depleting |
| Over the past 40 to 50 years many people have used engine powered transport that let off fumes. One is it a threat to the world, and even if we don't know if it is or not should we still take action. And is it mainly westerners that cause this due to the amount of cars we use and planes we travel on because we can afford it. For example a lot of poor Asian and African countries travel via elephants and camels, but they get affected most when they're not causing this? Have your say? |

In 5 years, China will make the last 40 to 50 years of "western" pollution look like a can of Lysol
Disinfectant. |

The blame for the depletion of the ozone layer rests not with one nation, it rests with all
humankind without exception. Even those who are not actively pumping fumes into the atmosphere are
responsible because they do not act against such destruction. We all have the power to protect our
planet, but we choose not to. |

I will agree that we are wasteful to the point of being sickening but don't put it ALL on us, it
just happened to be that we were more advanced than other countries (notice I said "were"). Now
China is falling right into our footsteps but the difference is THEY KNOW about the problems being
inflicted on the environment...we didn't have all the information back when we got started. I will
admit that we started the problem, but not that we caused it. With every harmful invention or
activity we produced - the rest of the world copied it, so you can't say it's our fault. The only
reason it was us instead of another country is because we were the wealthiest nation (again notice
the use of "were")...if you lived in a nation that allowed you to be in a car to get to your
destination in a timely manner and get there dry and not effected by the outdoor elements - would
you still take the camel to work???
I think blame should be reserved for those who are currently depleting the ozone layer and know that
the damage is serious...that would be ALL OF US! |

I wonder why nobody ever noticed the fact that there was no monitoring of the ozone layer before
they discovered the big hole. And why has the fact that the hole in the ozone layer has been
expanding AND contracting. |

Yes and no. It is true we do put out our fair share of greenhouse gasses. However, Asia puts out as
much if not more than us, china in particular. The US, china, and India are the top three producers
of greenhouse gasses. So its not really fair to say that only westerners are to blame for what is
known to be a global problem. Really, anyone who drives a car, rides a bus, flies in a plane, or
even uses electricity, is contributing to the problem. |
