The U.S. Ads Are Promoting The Use And Ingestion Of High Fructose Corn Syrup In Processed Foods Setting The Corn Refiners Association Up For Massive Law Suits Similar To The Tobacco Industry.
Is high fructose corn syrup in processed foods like soft drinks and cereal, etc., really a good thing like these ads purport? If not, is it only a matter of time before science can prove this and litigation begins?
First, I haven't seen any of these ads promoting corn syrup (other than in an occasional coupon
circular). Frankly I don't think they have to promote sale of it because it already fully
infiltrated our food chain.
Second, I absolutely agree that such widespread use is a health risk and it does open them up to
future lawsuits. BUT keep in mind it's analogous to sugar and although I'm sure big sugar has been
sued a time or two in the past I don't think it ever had categorical legal restrictions on sugar nor
crippling damage payouts. If sugar didn't get buried then I don't see how corn syrup would.
But yeah, corn syrup and the whole corn cornerstone of our industrial agriculture has given many
bases for lawsuits.
You are not watching enough tv. I assure you these ads have become quite frequent and use a scenario where somebody objects to a food product at a meal or party and the pro-corn mouth piece kind of humilates the person objecting and starts spouting vague factoids that validate corn syrup. Young kids seeing these ads will not be able to filter the propoganda.
