Hybrid Cars And Battery Powered Cars Are Not Really Reducing Pollution Like They Promise
I have a friend who is a long standing car fanatic and one of the smartest people I know and he says that hybrids don't actually do much better than regular cars and battery powered cars just divert the pollution from the air to the ground. What do you think?

Mostly the cars used worldwide are those driven by black energy generated from coal and fossil oil. The emission of these cars has caused severe injury to the environment of earth resulting into global warming. Now looking into the fact that batteries also pollute the environment, it clearly shows that the extent of pollution is much less than it is caused by burning of oil. The smoke emitted by the conventional cars contains harmful gases like carbon-mono-oxide. On the other hand the hybrid and the battery powered cars use cells as fuel, which generates electricity using hydrogen gas following a chemical procedure, and the exhaust contains only heat and water. Moreover the money saved in the production cost of these cars can be used in manufacturing eco-friendly cars. According to the scientists these cars bear significant promises of a cleaner and pollution free earth.

From what I have seen and read, I think that PLUG-IN hybrids are a decent idea in the making, we just don't have the technology to produce ane with a large enough range before it needs to be charged. However, I think that gas-electric hybrids are dumb. Let ME explain: Right now, a Prius will get you a decent 45 mpg, but a comparatively sized diesel car can give you a good deal more than 60 mpgs, all while costing less and not being the slowest thing on the road. So until the battery technology gets better, warm up to diesels, America! They are so much better than you think!!

Currently, battery production technology is polluting so it doesn't really matter if you've got a hybrid or not, you're still harming the environment. It's just another of those liberal "holier than thou" movements that don't really mean anything but a reason to pat yourself wrongly on the back.

My mother just bought my younger sister a hybrid and they do burn a lot less gas than then solely oil powered car of the same type. Hybrids are just a lot more expenses and not as easily obtain by most people. I do believe battery powered cars are a waste, but hybrids do use a lot less of the oil production that it seems this country would literally kills over.

It's the manufacturing and end disposal of these cars that's killing the planet.

In looking into how much batteries pollute the environment as opposed to how much gas pollutes it, I've found that batterie are actually much less polluting. Not to say that this is completely wrong, but hybrid and battery powered cars ARE leading toward a much cleanertype of transportation. Let me explain: Batteries are much cheaper to produce, so buying battery powerd vehicles will lead to less oil money and more enviro-friendly money. This in turn will allow more money to be put to use in creating an environmentally friendly vehicle.

Depends on the batteries you're talking about. Regardless, batteries are much less efficient than gasoline, you simply cannot get an electric car to go as far as you can get a gas-powered car to go. Batteries are heavy, they're slow to charge and in an accident, again depending on which batteries you're talking about, they can discharge toxic chemicals into the environment. Using an alternative fuel source like bio diesel is much more efficient, but it can cause problems as well when you get down to having to grow enough to supply our needs.
