Apart From The Whole Jew Thing, Hitler Was A Great Leader.
He was a great public speaker, he drove unemployment out of Germany in the 30s, he kept law and order in Germany, and he revived Germany to its former glory...

I believe Hitler would be considered as one of the greatest politicians of history. After all, he understood the German People well enough to harness their anger, fear, shame, & frustrations following WWii to have the Nazi Party become the dominate Political Party in Germany with controlling numbers in the Reichstag, and Hitler being named Chancellor in just 10 or so years from the failed 1923 putsch. Hitler threw the Versailles Shackles off, began rearming Germany, there were jobs, people had money & pride again...he stood up to the allies and they blinked...there went the Ruhr, Austria, Czechoslovakia
kelsovania. He was surprised war was declared over Poland, why wouldn't he be? All the previous incursions and nothing......so, looking at it from that perspective he was a great leader....don't forget the German People voted him & the Nazi's in power!!

I idolize Hitler. I don't agree with what he did or anything, but I respect him to death.

Hitler was a great leader. He managed to convince the vast majority of Germans to follow him and his destructive philosophy. Hitler was evil, but he was also very charismatic. He was able to inspire his followers to gladly follow him to their deaths even when it was obvious that their cause was lost. It is just a shame that Hitler didn't use his influence in amore positive way. Had he done so, he probably could have been remembered and loved for the way he improved the world rather than being reviled as a personification of evil.
And everyone has different opinions, he was just in the right position to acknowledge and set forth his to the whole country. Sure he was somewhat racist, but I've met people who today, would do the same thing because they are that close minded - which is even less acceptable as the 21st century is supposedly much more open minded than the mid-1900's.

He was, and although he did some very horrid things, I have a lot of sympathy for him as his enemies wrote history.

Hitler bad maybe but worse are the leaders and government of Israel who ere descendants of the same persecuted Jews of European decent. They keep the memory of Hitler alive by practicing the very things Hitler was infamous for .so why should the Palestinian Jews Muslims and Christians not be left to live in peace and let Europe give these European murderous Jews from Hitlers era give them a piece of their land. After all it was not the Palestinian people who did them wrong so why should these European Jews steal their land . Justice not war truth not lies...

He was an excellent public speaker, and he rallyed support like no other German leader to date. He commanded complete respect. Not many leaders could convince so many to commit genecide. Though he was insane, he was still an excellent politician and leader.

I wouldn't make the mistake of saying someone was a great leader on the grounds that they were able to gain support that enabled then to lead.

Hitler was great at gaining support by pointing to the problems facing people (pretty easy thing to do) and promising solutions to those problems (pretty easy thing to do). He was also great at implementing strategies to insure his support remained supportive (this is easy to do if you have no problem with killing people).

When it comes to leading, he’s one of the worst who ever lived (this is magnified by being great at the first two). He lead his followers into certain destruction. The decisions he made as a leader were simply the stupidest in history. Let’s see, I think I’ll take all of Europe, Northern Africa and take Russia on the side. That is the stupidest leadership to date.

The leadership in Japan was a close second. I’ll take the entire Pacific, land some troops in Alaska and take China on the side. Ok…I’ll call it a tie in stupidity.

WHAT!? You don't just pick and choose what parts of a murderers life make them a great person and igmore the fact that they are homicidal maniacs. And as to this beign a lighthearted debate topic well... I'm not sure which version of funk and wagnalls you have on your shelf, but you really want to look up what lighthearted means because you missed the piont somwhere along the way.

In the beginning he seemed like a great and charismatic leader who would revive Germany and make them great again but when in power it was far from this. He was quick enough to kill his followers and anyone of a different political ideology. He turned children against their parents leading them to grass on them leading to deaths. He would betray his allies and would imprison and torture anyone who did not fit into his idea of his future super race. Plus many other evil crimes and that isn't without mentioning the deaths of millions of Jews throughout Europe.

OMG i am SO sorry. This was actually my first post and was more of a lighthearted debate than something serious. I in no way advocate the things Hitler stood for and I am playing devil's advocate, I actually agree with ibanex's point of view.

Are you crazy? Hitler was the worst leader in the history of the entire World. He may have appeared to be great in the beginning, but his actions spoke louder than words. He used various tactics to gain people's trust, then in the end he destroyed all of them. Nothing he ever did was worth while. Above all, he was not a great speaker. He was very immature and inarticulate in his discourse. Everything he said was a lie. He did nothing good during his time as leader. He was a villain who terrorized people He was a racist who did whatever to boast his power. He had no respect for human life.

We cannot deny that he did do some good for Germany. He increased employment, and advanced the economy and industry very far during his reign. It is not true that he was not a good public speaker, he had lots of charisma and some of his speeches can actually be seen on the internet.

Hitler knew how to attract people and voters. To me, that is not enough to make him a great leader...
Stalin and Hitler were the two most dangerous leaders of the 20th century; the killed more than 30 millions innocent human beings...

Apart from the genocidal tendancies and terrorising his political opponents, he was indeed a great leader. However these things can't be overlooked.

I disagree. He instilled fear into the German people. This did not make him a great leader, people were too scared to challenge the Nazis, as it would result in 're-education' in a concentration camp. He had many other negative policies such as eugenics. In addition, he discriminated against many other people except for the jews, such as mixed race people, disabled people and gypsies. So he was not a great leader, rather a tyrannical villain who suppressed people's liberty, and indoctrinated a generation of Hitler Youth into thinking in this same evil way.
