Animals Should Not Be Used For Medicine Testing.
Doctors shouldn't test new medicines on animals. That is plain cruelty! Animals have feelings just like us, and they are just as important as us. Animals' lives shouldn't be risked and abused.

Um...hate to burst your bubble here, but physicians don't get medicine in their offices and grab animals to try the meds on. Those tests are done in controlled environments and in labs. After the animal testing is complete, there are clinical trials and humans are given the medicine. Once controlled clinical trials are done, a drug is submitted for approval. Takes years. It is mainly the components in drugs that are tested and preliminary tests are done on animals. There is way more to it, but someone who has a brain that allows them to think that we are somehow at the same level as animals, will not understand the entire process. If a human life can be saved by animal testing, then the animals are going to have to give their lives for that. My kids and everyone else in my life means more to me than worrying about what goes on in the labs that are there for the purpose of bettering lives of human beings. My father lived 13 years past disease that would have killed him within a year or two due to advances in modern medicine. As I mentioned to someone else, if you love animals, do what I do. Put yourself out a bit and rescue a stray. Foster a few animals and find them good homes. Stop by the shelters in your area and volunteer to walk the dogs and give them attention. Do not put animal life on the same level as human life ever. I want to scream at these stupid and inane posts. I want a bright and healthy future for my kids and for all of the children out there who suffer from what is now an incurable disease. I can't imagine how a parent goes on when their precious child is diagnosed with a terminal illness, but I can conceive of animals being used to further the art of medicine and prevent and cure diseases that human beings suffer from.

Yes they should, or else there's no point in having medicines.

Fuzzyball you are a mentalist!

Why are you arguing with yourself?!

Anyway, I disagree with the statement but I agree with your response.

Well maybe we can arrange for it all to be tested on humans then. Lets start with you.

I have often had the very same thought. Well, minus the "lets start with you" part because it was before I ever found this site. I do wholeheartedly believe that testing on animals is a necessity, however, there are some tests that would be more accurate (ok, most) if they were run on human beings. That is especially true when an actual drug is formulated and it isn't in the initial stages of simply testing out the active and inactive ingredients. Humans are simply not close enough to any animal to get an accurate result after animal testing, hence then need for clinical trials, where people are used as guinea pigs in a way. My thought was to offer violent criminals (murderers, rapists, child molesters, etc.) a way to "give back" to society. This would have to be a voluntary process or it would be unconstitutional, but it would allow some criminals an option to feel that they have made amends of sorts. If they were to wish to do submit themselves to laboratory testing, in which every effort would be made to keep them comfortable, we would have a valuable resource in which to test new medications and procedures for that matter. Ok, the truth is, I wouldn't really mind if it wasn't voluntary in the case of some of the criminals I have heard of, but that is anger speaking and not my rational mind. When I think of someone who takes the life of a child, I do not see how they have more rights than an animal at the time that I am thinking through rage and emotion. As a mother, it is difficult to imagine some of the things that people do to kids. Don't get me wrong, anyone who takes a human life is a terrible person, but a child is innocent and I can't see the purpose for it. Well, I'm off the point. Just wanted to say, I think you made your point. I do believe in animal testing and think people arguing against it are ill informed. I hate the thought of an animal suffering. I am a huge animal lover. Regardless of my feelings for animals, I have to put human life in the forefront and hope more people become mature enough to do the same.

Animals have to be used for medicine testings. Otherwise, the doctors wouldn't know if the medicine was harmful and people might die from drinking poisonous medicine. There's basically no other choice than for animals to be tested.

I'm confused? Why didn't you just state that you were for animal testing in your title?
