Sure! We're animals too |

We are animals so they should be treated as us and should have respect and love |

No. Humans have more influence in the world than animals and so a human has more value than an
animal. We don't have a right to abuse the animals, but I believe we have the right to use them for
our benefit. |

They are not all equal are they? Answer this; I have probably killed 150 ants in my time. Does
that make me as bad as Harold Shipman? No, obviously not. |

It's obvious that their cognitive capacity is far lower than ours so they have no right to be
treated as equals. We were in an evolutionary race with them to see who would developed advanced
intelligence the quickest. We won. The other animals lost. So now they have to pay the price.
It could easily have been the other way. Dogs might have won and kept us as pet monkeys, throwing us
a banana once in a while if we were good. But it turned out the other way. Animals just have to
accept that. We won, fair and square.
Animals will keep evolving, though, eventually progressing towards advanced intelligence of their
own, assuming we don't wipe out life as we know it on the world with a nuclear war or something.
Eventually, then, in millions of years maybe, when animals start to show signs of intelligence, we
will have to develop new policies towards them. It will be a shame when all the cows and pigs have
become intelligent, though. Then we will all have to become vegetarians. |

Considering just how some people treat their fellow man, that wouldn't be much of an assurance for
any of the animals.
I'll say this in support to your argument. Humans must make a decision animals or us. When it comes
to wild animals, and their needs, the habitat, we have to think about reducing our numbers not
increasing them. |

How many animals build cars, fly planes, invent new products, or cook their food. If you really
think we are equal then you watch too many planet of the ape movies. When animals themselves become
smart enough to write and submit a petition for equal treatment without human help then I will treat
them as equals. |

I love animals!!! Both as pets, and as food.
As long as we keep eating meat, we will never treat animals as we treat humans, unless we are
willing to treat humans just like animals and eat humans too. HMM this might be a good alternative,
"cannibalism as the means to stop population growth" that would be a complete different debate.
On the other hand if you want to make a case for stopping animal testing that is a whole different
tangent as well. For animal testing might be a little immoral and hypocritical i agree; but what is
our alternatives, no testing, or human testing.
No testing will not bring any medical benefits to us or to animals themselves in the future.
And human testing is equally immoral than animal testing, It will bring more medical benefits to us.
Since the testing is done directly on humans, and better scientific conclusions can be drawn. BUT is
it really a practical alternative, I don't think so.
However, i say that whatever tests are done with animals should be done with care and ensure that
the suffering of the creature is minimize. And i absolutely disagree with plain animal violence and
abuse.
Even as much as i love steak, i think the cows that i eat you be put to death in the quickest way
possible with the smallest suffering possible.
And animal abuse should be condemn harshly, when it is done for diversion. |

I agree we should treat animals with respect, but they should not be treated as equals. Some animals
can be smart, but most of them can't compare with the Human mind. |

Just because we are animals does not make us equal. In fact, being animals supports our not treating
them equally.
I wrote out a long elaboration on this, but my Internet failed when I tried to submit, so I don't
feel like retyping all of it. |
