| Americans Need A Better Education System |
| It seems common sense escapes most of our Neighbors to the South...Could it be that there is terrible lack of education in the United States, or has propaganda and the lack of separation of church and state doomed these poor folks to generations of stupidity?... |

There's two topics here. First, the overall quality of education... It is better than some places,
worse than other places. Could you safely say it is better now than at any other time in our
nation's history? No. Is it near the top of the industrialized world? No. Does it prepare kids
to succeed in college and or a vocation? In some cases, but a lion share really aren't ready, and
far too many drop out completely. So yes we need a better education system. And it's not as simple
as scheduling more comprehensive tests, or throwing more money at the problem, or firing teachers
servicing challenged school areas which perform lower.
The second issue from the subtext is the separation of church and state. I personally completely
agree with the separation, I fully defend teaching evolution in school and not creationism, and I
think prayer either does not belong there or should be done quietly per individual choice. BUT with
that said, do I think there is any lasting harm to kids from the little bit of meddling the
religious right has done in education? No not really. Sure there's harm from churches turning out
closed minded religious nuts but I think that's a church created phenomenon and it doesn't happen
simply due to a school adding creationism to curriculum or pausing for a moment of prayer. |

I think from what I know of the education system within America it could use a massive overhaul, so
probably does the health system and lots of others. Not saying there bad, just from what I know they
could be far better. |

I will say our system sucks, lol. But believe me there is a separation between church and state. |
