I agree with the topic itself— of course the American economy would flourish with (increased)
domestic automaking, that's why it flourished in the first place— but i don't agree with what you
said in the explanation that the president should bring a closer balance on imports and exports. The
government should allow international free trade, as any true capitalist country would. |

Disagree - Unless you are willing to allow open shop automakers. The United Auto Workers labor
union has such complex and cumbersome labor rules, the cost of an American made car in America is
10-20% higher than that same American-brand car made overseas and imported to the US.
It is not a question of the American craftsmanship, it is an issue of cost. American made cars
cannot compete, not even with American cars made overseas. Besides, what craftsmanship?Most of the
parts are made and assembled by robotic machinery. |
