| American Democrats Must Learn To Fight Dirty |
| It's all very well trying to be noble. If it lets a crowd of villains get in ahead of you, though, it doesn't do much good for the world, does it? The Democrats are too soft and let the Republicans get away with too much. In this election, the Democrats will be playing by the Queensberry rules while the Repugs swift-boat Obama. They need to destroy McCain with every weapon in the arsenal, including the Songbird. |

Being dirty doesn't have to mean being dishonest. In fact, it can mean the exact opposite. It can
mean that you dare to speak about something that you otherwise wouldn't speak about. At times,
silence can mean dishonesty.
For example, there are so many troubling aspects of McCain's past which the media simply glosses
over. Someone wrote a book about him with the very appropriate name of "Free Ride : John McCain and
the Media" and I think the recent reaction to Wesley Clark's rather innocuous remark bears that out.
The Democrats should raise these issues. No doubt they will, at first, provoke splutters of
indignation from John McCain's friends in the media, but if the Democrats don't back down, and just
keep on talking about them, eventually an awareness of them will sink into the public mind.
For example, there is the whole McCain war hero story. Here are the cold facts. McCain spent less
than 20 hours in combat. He trashed 5 aircraft in his military career. He was coddled both in the
military and in the prison camp because his daddy was an admiral. He spent 5 years undergoing
communist mind-conditioning. During that time, he was completely "broken". He tried to commit
suicide. He made propaganda broadcasts on behalf of an enemy power during a time of war and earned
himself the nickname "Songbird". No one will talk about these facts.
Then there are issues in his own personal life. McCain deserted his sick wife and married a younger,
richer more attractive woman. Isn't that a legitimate character issue?
McCain has made a name for himself as an anti-corruption campaigner. He only did that as a PR
strategy to cover up the fact that he had been caught red-handed in corruption.
The Democrats won't talk about any of this, but you can be sure the Republicans will be going for
the jugular against Obama in every way possible. McCain won't need to do it directly. There will be
independent groups, like the Swift boaters, to do it for him while he gets to pose as noble and
aloof. The Democrats need to find the killer instinct. |

I'm saying true only because I don't want to see them bested by the Republicans this time around....
However,
Do they already know how to fight dirty? Yes, they have a long tradition in US politics and have
thrown their share of dirt.
And what would make the biggest difference of all is NOT how the campaigns are run but instead of
the US public woke up, lashed out, made their voice heard and fundamentally changed the way our
elections are conducted. Dirty politics thrives because we let it thrive. The intelligence of the
voting public was greatly thrown into question when the Republicans succeed in re-electing the
current President. |

I agree as long as fighting dirty does not mean being dishonest. |

So we should just ignore the issues and say MCCAIN SUCKS HE DOES BLANK HES HORRIBLE DONT VOTE FOR
HIM. O wait they do that already they were just to busy doing it to each other at first. |

Being dirty is being dishonest. |

I see your point, but I know that your plan would make us just as bad as the Republicans. Hilary
fought dirty, and I hated her for it. She was just as bad as McCain in my eyes. |
