Well, maybe.
American Idol focuses only on singing though, whereas America's Got Talent focuses around singers,
dancers, magicians, comedians and so on.
SO in terms of quantity, yes AMG has more talent.
Not really a fair comparison. |

"America's Got Talent" got good ratings, but not much else. It really is not any better than
American Idol--both are dire, mawkish television programs that serve as a platform for truly
mediocre participants who behave as though they are taking part in a popularity contest, and not a
show actually aimed at scouting out real talent and creativity.
Getting viewers to vote is never a very good idea, because many of them seem more interested in
whether or not the performer looks trendy, rather than in the sounds that come out of his/her month
while singing. If you look avant-garde--in a teenage sort of way--and have mediocre talent when it
comes to singing, dancing or performing more generally, you might just scoop up the prize. If you
have a great voice and display some creativity, but come in dressed as though you just popped in
after finishing work at your telemarketing job, you're toast. There's something really wrong with
this degree of superficiality. |

Sorry, I think America's Got Talent is a glorified Gong Show, except with the Gong Show at least you
also had the funky gong and goofy host. |
