The situation with Pirates capturing huge ships might put payed to the practice. I can imagine the
cost of protecting ships is going to be blown out of the water so to speak.;-)) |

I agree on some levels, but disagree on other levels. First on my mind is the fact that the work
ethic here is not what it should be. It isn't even close. In some instances, American goods are of
higher quality, but I don't believe that applies to all goods. It would be ideal for our goods to
be manufactured here, but we need workers who are conscientious and reliable. I can't even go
through a drive through and get my order correct on the first try. Generally, I need to go back at
least one time. If we are speaking of automobiles, I would own a foreign car before a domestic car
any day. Give me a Audi over a Ford any day of the week. Come to think of it, one of my favorite
cars is a Saab. Handles like a dream. Of course, some of the assembly process is done here in our
country for some makes, but I have noticed a decrease in quality when that happens. If we could
find Americans (not a minority of them, but the majority of them) who were truly committed to the
jobs that they do, we would be able to manufacture more product here and I am sure Americans would
be willing to pay for the quality. If the quality of a good from another country is better, I, as a
consumer, am going to purchase that instead of one just because it has "Made In America" stamped on
it. |
