You can't say a sci-fi fans neither geek nor nerd. They just want to know more knowledge at science
fiction. They read more, doesn't mean that they are geek/nerd. Mostly these type of students/people
are more mature, they look things in many point of view. And i support Curious, because of these
people, we can get the newest technologies. They develop a lot of new technologies stuffs. These
people are just like normal human but they just enjoy knowing/study in this particular subject. |

There is not necessarily a contradiction between being a geek and nerd on the one hand and
intelligent and successful on the other. This is the age of the geek, after all. In a world where
computers are everywhere, there is a strong demand for geeks and nerds. Look at Bill Gates.
History has a way of taking us by surprise. The things that, in the long run, will come to be prized
as important art forms or art movements may not have been so at the time. This is partly because the
ego tends to have a corrupting influence on an artist.
For example, when the Second World War broke out, the British government was mindful of what had
happened in the First World War : Lots of dead poets, bad for public morale. So they made a list of
those who they thought were the most important writers of the time and made sure they wouldn't be
sent to the front line. Looking at the list now, no one has heard of any of them. Their estimate at
the time of who were the best writers was completely different from our modern judgement of it.
In the long run, science fiction may well come to be seen as THE literature of the 20th century. It
was the time when we became infatuated with our own capacity to remake the world we lived in through
technology. Certainly, I look forward to an Iain M. Banks novel far more than I do to an Iain Banks
novel. Science fiction fans will know what that means. |

You are correct. They are basically considered geeks and nerds because they are far more mature than
most teenagers and adults. All the parties and showing off for others isn;t for them. They are the
ones that develop new and better technologies, they are the valedictorians, they are the ones that
one day everyone will look up to and wish they had been more serious about their studies or gotten
more involved in certain things. There is nothing wrong with liking science fiction and it doesn't
make you a geek or a nerd. It makes you human. |

I do think scifi lovers are nerds. This is a major factor in being considered a nerd in my opinion.
It's becoming more socially acceptable, so more normal people are crossing over to the dark side. I
do also agree that these nerds are of generally higher intelligence when compared to average bear. I
prefer nerd to non-nerds. |

They actually are, but they don't look like it. Geeks and nerds have evolved over the last decade to
be the underdog that gets the girl, and win the heart of the world.
They are portrayed in movies as very strong courageous as in example movies below.
1. Spider man
2. Superman
3. Iron man
4. The X men (All of them)
plus many more.
Nerds and geeks aren't wimpy guys anymore they are champions of champions. |
