All Religious Beliefs Should Be Unspoken If The Person Being Spoke To Requests.
If someone pushes their religion on you in everyday life and you ask them to stop they shouldn't be allowed to keep pushing it on you because they have freedom of speech.

I agree with this. I don't have an official religion but I do believe in God and I do find it quite insulting when religious people try to push me into believing what they believe in. I don't mind talking about their religion, but there's a difference between a polite discussion and an attempt to influence someone to convert or whatever. I doubt they'd be too happy if I walked about lecturing and preaching them and telling them they're wrong and should change.

As soon as you're infringing on others, your rights become limited.

Edit: Although there's a Christian in my town who, every weekend, can be seen walking up and down the High Street proclaiming to all that we're going to Hell for being sinners. I live for the day when someone punches him. I really do.

That's a brilliant idea. It goes back to the concept that your rights and privileges have to cease when they start to infringe on another person's rights and privileges. In fact one could argue that my own freedom of religion is impeded when someone tries to push a different religion's view upon me.

And finally, if someone religious really believes they have a right to push it then maybe we need to mobilize an anti-religion voice to get up in their faces too. Start asking the big questions which religion can't answer. Start telling them they're the only ones going to hell because hell only exists if you believe in it. And on and on. See how they like it. Generally the non-religious keep to themselves. The religious are the instigators.

I agree, and the same goe's for all other topics. Introducing new ideas to a person is one thing, continuing after a request to stop is quite another. Gay pride comes to mind.

I must say I am all for gay pride but since you don't want to hear it I'll shut up.

If someone preaches to me after I ask them to stop then I will have them charged with harassment. (the net excluded because you don't know who they are and i will not read what they have to say anyway. They are not forcing it on me) If they can claim freedom of speech I can claim a right to be free from harassment.

If you do this for religious beliefs you have to do it for political beliefs, philosophical beliefs, ethical beliefs, legal beliefs, and every other way that people expresses their standards.

You might as well shut down this debate site. Because you too are pushing a belief on others.

They have the right to free speech, and you have the right to ignore them. It is common courtesy to not raise sensitive religious and political issues, if you know that the person you are speaking with finds these discussions uncomfortable or insulting. I do not, however, think that it is possible or healthy to regulate this in any way. Someone who tries constantly to force his/her religion on others will soon find himself friendless and unwanted. Let this be his punishment, rather than some type of legal action.

I don't raise religious issues nor do I talk about faith with friends, family or acquaintances, unless someone else brings up the topic, or if I know that the I am speaking with someone who shares my faith or has an interest in theology. Additionally, if my faith is attacked, then I will certainly respond. But I definitely don't appreciate when I am the target of proselytizing missionaries, regardless of what faith they adhere to. Nor do I like being told what to do and what I should believe in, since I am old enough to make these decisions for myself. Religion and spirituality, or lack thereof, are very personal and sensitive issues. As such, they should be handled with care.

I applaud your restraint from voicing your opinions to others and simply wish everyone had your sense of calm and respect for others but since they do not I believe they should be punished for harassing people who have made it clear that they do not want to hear what they have to say.

I don't think that would be a particularly healthy path to go down. I want to be able to say what I want about someones religion and so they should be able to say what they want to me. If they do keep on they should be prepared to be told to fk off.

It aggravates me that the religious feel it is their duty to impose their beliefs on others. They are very annoying but to stop them talking by law is not the correct way to proceed.

Don't get me wrong I think they should have the right to say what they want. Although I don't think they should have the right to harrass people who have plainly told them that they do not want to hear it.

One has the right to express their opinion if you cant deal with it get a restraining order. You are assuming that everybody in the world cares if you ask them to stop. Not everyone does care. They will continue until you give in or do something rash against them, aka hit them or yell at them.
We don't live in a perfect world where everyone is nice.

Did you even read my reply to this debate? I am not saying they can't express their views but they should understand that they are infringing on the rights of others and respect them. I do realize that there are jerks out there but is not the point of expressing our views the ability to make others more understanding?

What is your point precisely? Ban everyone who holds a view different from your own? That's not what "DEBATE" means......by definition. ;-)
