Alcopops Should Be Banned.
In an age (in Britain) where underage drinking causes mayhem on the streets at the weekend, should we ban these deceptive drinks that essentially have the purpose of getting people drunk? For people who can't handle the real strong stuff, these soft sugary drinks allow them to feel the effects of alcohol and we are fuelling this as a nation by continuing to sell these drinks which, in my opinion, are everything wrong with society today. Or is it more a case of parents being more responsible? Have your say.

I think they should kill all the alcoholics and ban and destroy all non medical alcohol. This would prevent the alcoholics from making alcohol seem cool or making it seem important. Also yes i know i spelled it four different ways I'm not sure how to spell it and I'm hoping that one of them is correct.

Alcopops are alcohol and no one under the age of 21 years old should be allowed to drink them. Alcopops are flavored alcohol such as wine coolers and they do contain alcohol. Of course, the amount of alcohol they contain is very minimal, but that is beside the point. Absolutely no one under the age of 21 should be allowed to drink alcohol at any time. Even those people who are over 21 should not drink them if they are going to drink irresponsibly or drink them in front of their children. You can still drink and drive and end up hurting yourself or someone else while drinking alcopops. Therefore, I am for banning alcopops.

I think the best way to deal with it is to let them drink as much as they want so they can learn self restraint. Let the ones who drink to much and do retarded things die off so they won't procreate stupid children with their genes.

No, banning is not the answer, neither was prohibition. If under-age use is the problem, then banning wouldn't do any good, they are already breaking the law. If you want to stop under-age drinking, look to the parents. Without parental involvement, nothing else will work.

I do not believe in banning alcopops perse. There are perfectly adequate laws in the UK prohibiting the sale of alcohol to those under 18. Should the age be raised? I don't know. The problem with this issue is the same as every other law, people will find a way to get round it and there needs to be rigorous enforcement (easier said than done). Parents do have a part to play along with schools, Government, the drinks industry and the young people themselves.

I see, you have a very strong valid point there. But imagine if alcohol was a luxury and only expensive liquors went on sale, not cheap alcopops which kids drink out on the streets.
