Finsch, I approach this topic in the same manner when I teach psychopharmacology -- distinguishing
the physical affects of drugs from the resultant lifestyle afffects and with an emphasis on
safety.
Alcohol is by far a more dangerous drug than either marijuana or LSD, which tend to be amongst the
safest psychoactive drugs. There are no documented cases of death from overdose of either LSD or
MJ,and any chronic health effects are disputable. Neither LSD nor MJ lead to clinical physical
dependence, and tolerance to LSD develops so quickly that it is not used as a daily drug. On the
other hand, both off these drugs are illegal, so there is no quality control inspectors. I'd be
interested to know what chemicals the dealers are actually passing off as LSD nowadays.
The studies and anecdotes attributing long-term psychological effects from LSD or MJ are
questionable at best, including the recent and much touted meta-analysis linking MJ use with
schizophrenia. I'd rate both on the same scale as caffeine.
Alcohol, on the other hand, has a very small window between the dose where you get a buzz and the
amount that kills you. It contributes to long-term health effects, and the withdrawal symptoms of
physically-dependent drinkers can be fatal. It is quality-controlled, however, if you're buying over
the counter.
People have always been interested in changing their state of consciousness (remember twirling in
circles as a child?) I do recommend having a safety buddy around for whatever type of vision quest
you wish to pursue, whether pot, LSD, booze, or sleep deprivation. Changes in levels of
consciousness are accompanied by changes in level of judgment.

Let me break it down for you. Take natural if anything, throw away the rest. Alcohol - unnatural.
LSD - unnatural. Marijuana - natural. |

Studies have never shown any permanent harm from LSD. Nobody has ever overdosed on marijuana..
Only since you said alcohol AND marijuana am I on this side. Alcohol is by far the worst substance
of the three.
"currently 750,000 American adults are guest of the legal system due to marijuana." - that's because
it's illegal. |

Well it’s a pretty complex question. There a number of ways in which a substance can be harmful.
A) immediate health risks
B) Long term health risks
C) Legal ramifications
D) And temporary physical impairment
Just to name a few. However I don’t think there is any question that alcohol has by far claimed
the most lives due to drunken driving, health complications, and psychological ramifications. This
may be partly due to being the most easily available. However studies suggest that LSD has limited
addiction potential and Marijuana has far fewer health related risks. However LSD overdoses can have
catastrophic health risks and currently 750,000 American adults are guest of the legal system due to
marijuana. |

LSD is far worse than marijuana, and on the whole usually worse than alchohol. LSD, after just one
drop, can turn some people insane on hallucinations, and can affect the mid forever afterwards.
Alchohol is also more dangerous than marijuana though, as you can be physically addicted to it (you
can only be mentally addicted to marijuana) and it can cause people to be aggressive. Taking
marijuana makes you more relaxed and chilled, hence the term stoned rather than high. |

That's crazy.
I am against marijuana and every drug that is out here, but if I had to choose which one is the most
less harmful, it would be mary jane because you don't see people hallucinating and doing crazy
stuff. Well actually you do, but it's not as extreme. |

I believe the reports of people dropping acid once and never being the same again. You never hear
the same thing about someone having one beer or one joint and then being messed up for life. Yet, I
wouldn't deny that alcoholism and abuse of other drugs may as a whole impact society worse than
those who are dropping acid. But I also would claim that if acid became prevalent, if it replaced
alcohol and marijuana as the chief choice of substance abuse, you'd see a far more devestating
impact on society than now. |

Now that's funny. It's all relative. I haven't read any studies but I am 99.999999% sure that if you
did LSD everyday for 5 years...you would be really screwed up. |

LSD causes you to hallucinate. All marijuana does is make you super-relaxed and not care about
anything. |
