Al Gore Is The Most Important Leader In The Push To Slow Climate Change
He was the first who really brought attention to the problem. "An Unfortunate Truth", especialy, was a great stride to bring awareness.

Most important? More accurately he's the most well known, at least in the US. Scandanavian and French politicians have done much more to address the problem.

The Norweigians have created an entire network of hydrogen refueling stations for cars, buses and trucks, and the hydrogen is split from water using hydroelectric power, i.e. It's clean. Other northern European countries are looking at ways to follow them.

As for the French, they are almost completely independent of oil, despite having no oil reserves of their own. Their politicians smartly pushed for nuclear power more than 20 years ago and it has paid off.

Those who actually get something done are better examples than those who just talk, but at least Gore is making people think, which is something they weren't doing.

making people think? i'd say he has done the opposite. he managed to turn a scientific and political issue into a moral issue (moral as in "you have a moral obligation to agree with eveything i say"), thereby muddling the issue into the pseudo religion it has become.

Al Gore is a hack who has no idea what he is talking about. He has muddled the issue beyond any rational thought.

"Who cares about the environment, jeezus is coming soon!"
- James Watt, Raygun's "secretary of the interior" (the environment)

Your side is populated with idiots who "think" damaging the environment is a good thing that will bring about the "apocalypse". You're not exactly in a position to judge.
