If there is any kind of advantages of these things collectively more than its harm then it should not be banned. But these are harming more then its good affects so these should be banned definitely

The West is a mess right now. Why do you think so many Islamic terrorist groups hate us? We insult their religion with all of our disgusting junk.
Of course, they have a bad way of expressing their dislike.
My opinion is we should try to clean up a little. You know, try to have less trashy scenes in movies, less porn, etc. Unless we want another 9/11 or another US revenge invasion of the Middle East.

I don't think we insult their religion. I think the west is way more tolerant of them than they are of us. They take hair-trigger offence and play the "islamophobe card" while trampling on our cultural traditions and offending us.

Making Moral decisions means maximizing the profitability of your decisions first universally/eternally before they are maximized locally/presently. Giving to charity may be profitable in the big picture for society but it cost you personally. Giving to Charity is most likely Moral as it accounts to the big picture before it account to the small picture. Stealing on the other hand profits yourself in the short-run but fails to profit society as it is easier to steal than to be productive. Morality scopes from big to small if your decisions fall outside this scope they are immoral and will be imposing a cost upon someone at sometime. Morality is about doing the big picture accounting. What maximized profitability in the big picture everywhere and for all time?

I agree pornography promotes violence against women and should be banned! It depicts women as objects to be used aboused and later disposed. People who view pornography fantasize to act it out in real life, therefore it promotes rape, prostution and diviant behaviour as well as sadistic abuse of its victims which include women, children as well as boys and young men. It is criminal behaviour which destroys lives, hopes, dreams and breaks the human spirit!

I completely agree! The world has become greedy, hypocritical, people don`t trust each other. The government wants us to believe that our biggest problems are LGBT rights and to think only about celebrities` personal life. We`ve forgotten that money and happiness aren`t the same things and we can`t buy a ticket to paradise.
Primarily, a pledge of happiness is a clear conscience.

I'm sorry, are you saying that LGBT rights is BAD? that's ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. People want to demonstrate the love they have, that's not bad or detrimental to society; acceptance is not bad.

When you are finished rooting out the sin in your own soul, actions, beliefs, let us hear from you. You will, of course, forgive our doubts. I, personally, will want evidence that I agree with your definitions of sin. Just being careful. I don't want to dump worthy acts just because you don't like them.

I think that some people are TOO religious and some people are down right bossy and controlling. I think that people should have their freedoms and live their lives the way they choose. But let's face it, we as a PEOPLE, need to make better choices. We need to do better as a society.

We are bombarded with sex ( T.V, radio, movies, magazines, etc. ).
I like sex like anyone else but I don't want to see it and hear about it all day everyday. And I don't want my kids slapped with it constantly either.

These things show us that whatever our relationship with sex is...it is NOT a healthy one.

Re-instate the death penalty for serious biblical crimes (ie: Homosexuality, pornography, blasphemy, atheism, idol worship, abortion, pre-martial sex, adultery, use of contraception) and hammer the message home: This is GOD'S NATION, and traitors to God will be dealt with swiftly and mercilessly by the righteous.

Even in biblical times religion spouting people were put to death if they said anything that angered the rulers of the time so if you want that back then simply kill yourself to save the government the time because that is what would happen to you if the laws were changed the way you want.

I agree completely. A western world revolution is a complete must if we want to continue to be the worlds most looked up to besides England. Though I am christian, I believe such a thing can never happen all because of the fact that we are all chained on human nature. Vanity, selfishness and the means to "GET" instead of the spirit of "Give" this cannot happen until God comes but anything is possible.

According to the present legal system, consenting adult(s) can engage in activities that do not affect others. Then why is suicide illegal? If I kill someone with his consent, is it right? This system of morality is not consistent. Nowadays when two people like each other, they stay together. But when they no longer like each other, they move apart. This has a bad effect on their children. The institution of marriage ensures that a child receives a healthy growth environment. He gets the love and care of mother, which instills kindness in his heart, and wisdom from father (and other teachers), which he can use to earn a living, and have spiritual fulfillment in life. How could emotional ties sustain a marriage? Emotion is the most unreliable thing. Only a sense of moral obligation can create lasting family bonds. And the institution of marriage (extending to that of a family with a hierarchical structure) provides not only for the most basic needs of a child like food, clothing etc,... But also that of moral education and wisdom. Problems like teenage pregnancy, drug addiction, etc will reduce considerably. I am not a Christian, and I'm not religious. But I fully support that we should root out any forms of sexual activity that lie outside the institution of marriage as established by major world cultures.

 meniscus  25 Oct 2012 15:39

The problem isn't sexual activity... there's nothing wrong with sex outside marriage. So married people don't do drugs? What would happen if you forced people to be married in order to have sex would be that people would get married younger and there would be more marriages and divorces(or people just wouldn't listen to you and continue having sex)... it's only natural. Morality isn't tied to sexuality and the other way around. There are moral gays and immoral married people. Of course you can be immoral on the sexual aspect, but just as everything else, you can be immoral with food, clothes, cars, everything... the problem is immorality itself, not prostitution/fornication/pornography(which neither is inherently wrong)

Actually, what the entire world needs, not only the arabs, it a revival of their spirirts.

What do I mean by "moral revolution", a revolution in which moral principles that ruled in the very beginning of the church, are brought again to society.

Strikes during the arab spring gave results, but which was its cost? Dictators were taken away of their thrones, and people felt good fighting for their own rights, but... Did they ever filled their duties? Now, which are people's duties? The ten commandments of God. Why? Because according to those ten principles society was founded.

Now it's time for a second revolution in Arab World, but... Why a moral revolution? Because seeking into people's hearts is the only way society can be changed.

Men and women are so stubborn that even though you give them a law statement (whether the bible or the country's constitution), they fail at it. But when something changes your heart, you start to change from inside to outside.

When that happens, your vision about things changes radically. You no more want wars, you no more want strikes, but you want to change other people's lives just as happened to you.

So, what kind of revolution am I talking about? About Christ's revolution. About Christ changing lives. About going back to the beginning, at the very beginning of the church, because during that time, even though there were problems, there was scarcity, there were wars, people's hearts were untouched, They remained still. They could pass all tests the passed through, why? Because their life was based on the rock which is Christ.

Therefore, do we need a moral revolution? Yes, because this world won't change unless WE change from inside to outside and show the rest how we've been changed.

1. You must not have any other God but me.

2. You must not make for yourself an idol

3. You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

4. Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

5. Honor your father and mother.

6. You must not murder.

7. You must not commit adultery.

8. You must not steal.

9. You must not testify falsely against your neighbor.

10. You must not covet

Most of those things that you listed are covered under #7, however, these are ALL things that we need to go back to. We are already (or most of us are) following some of these things in our country (like #'s 6 and 8). You think we came up with those two laws by ourselves? No.... The USA was founded on biblical principles and to biblical principles it should return. Without the bible there is no such thing as morality

I don't think we should bring back the bible, however we need to return to our old traditions. Look around, our life is nothing! It costs nothing and It means nothing! Why? Because we stopped being people. What is our face? Picture in your Facebook page? No! We started living in the virtual world where we feel ourselves safe and confident, but in fact we learn nothing and get weak. In fact, a lot of people say "Yaaay" when someone say we killed, we lost, we started, they started, war, crime, murder, but you don't really know what does it mean. It isn't action movie with guns and exploding cars! No! This is real! Just Imagine! Thousands of people JUST LIKE YOU die every day, they are starving and they WILL die, because people in WEST forgot how is it, to DIE, to feel excruciation, to be human.

Today, too many people are brainwashed by the media. Our own opinions are formulated off of what we learn from the media. A Moral Revolution may be necessary to save this generation, as many teens today are vulnerable to many things. As for pornography, it causes more men to be abusive towards women. Those with no sexual experience may perform actions they have seen in a porn movie because they have no experience with sexual intercourse. Prostitution is one of the leading causes for HIV transmission as well as other types of sexually transmitted diseases. If we can change these altogether, this world be a much better place.

Rooting away these things wont help us to improve a nation. Just because you dont want to masturbate you dont cut your p*nis off. This sadistic approach wont change anything. A better way is to control these things, making sure that a people of certain age should be able to watch it or participate in it. Security measures should be upgraded and brighter and lighter way is better. Children after certain age experiment on their sexuality rather than strict approach we must approach with understanding and caution. This cutting up theory creates criminals.
When you read a bible, that book is meant to make you enlightened and a better person not some psycho criminal.

Because the western world contains a high level of diversity, and because it is a melting pot of religions, cultures, and standards from all over the world, I don't believe we can impose rules of this sort without removing essential freedoms and without violating the Constitution of the United States, which is part of the western world. That Constitution guarantees a separation of church and state, and the changes that are proposed are based upon morals taught in religious texts.

The proposition suggests an external revolution to eliminate all "immoral" behavior. Since many of the distinctions between "moral" and "immoral" behavior rely on interpreting some ancient religious text, such a revolution would be equivalent to enforcing a specific religion (much like we see happening in Islamic nations). You would have self-appointed monitors turning people in (or perhaps handing out punishment with a bottle of acid) for violations of the religious code. In most cases people would follow the religious code to avoid punishment (not because they really believe it in their hearts).
The change that matters is the change inside every individual. You cannot accomplish that by forcing your values on another person. You have to demonstrate that your values are better than living in "immorality." People who want to force their values on other people are just too lazy to do the hard work of demonstrating that their values are better. They would prefer the state to step in and enforce those values on everybody else.

I could understand your point of view, but unfortunately I think I totally disagree with it. Honestly, our society seems not to have moral values like in the past. For example, pornography, prostitution or fornication becomes increasingly prevalent, which goes against our traditional standards. However, this is a trend now. Indeed, society has been developing dramatically which enables us to change. To illustrate this point, sex should be taken into account. If there are not sexual activities outside the confines of marriage, the world could become chaotic. Indeed, rapes could occur more frequently since many people could not satisfy themselves.

In general, moral evolution should be implemented, but not against the current trend of society.

Honestly? I can understand where you're coming from, but I don't necessarily agree. Getting rid of pornography, prostitution, and fornication won't change the world. It will just anger people. It won't solve anything, it will just make more problems. Plus, out of all of the problems in our world, fornication isn't that high on the list depending on your standards. Forcing people to not have sex until they're married is illogical. It just won't happen. I, personally, feel no inclination to get married just to have sex. I feel no inclination to get married period. Marriage isn't for everyone, contrary to popular belief. There is no such thing as a perfect match. Pornography isn't a big issue either. As long as it isn't child pornography and the participants gave their permission, there really isn't a problem with it. And besides, what would it change? Less divorce? If a husband/wife is watching porn, they're unfaithful anyway and the marriage probably wouldn't work out, even if porn was made illegal.

Definition: Morals-a person's standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them to do.

So, in effect, each individual decides what is moral based on their beliefs.

Your "Moral Revolution" would be for you (or a book you believe) to decide what is moral to everyone in "The Western World"...right? Based on your beliefs? You believe that pornography/prostitution, fornication, sodomy etc. Is immoral.

Well, I believe that Islam is immoral.

I believe that any religious person or group who wants to force others to adhere to their beliefs are immoral.

And I am sick of hearing about what religious extremists believe to be moral while they are denouncing others moral beliefs.

Morals? LOL. Islam justifies child brides & pedophilia. Islam justifies the cruel treatment of animals. Islam tells you leaving Islam is punishable by death, it is the one and only true religion, to go against it is blasphemy, to question it is blasphemy.

A woman gets raped? Needs the rapist to admit to the rape or at least 4 witnesses, if not, the woman gets thrown in jail. Segregation between men & women, women can't vote, can't travel without a chaperon etc. "morals" LOL. Islam is BS.

Pushing a set of beliefs on other people is the reason for most conflict. How can you call your ideals better than the person next to you? When I am pushed i push back. I almost want to see some religious group try force in America. Anyone can come to America and give their pitch but god help the person who uses forceful means.

I agree with your premise but, according to the Bible, you're wasting your time.

You can make all the external changes you want but it won't do any good.

The heart of man's problems is man's heart. Until God saves a man and gives him a new heart, he will never completely change.

When you try to change a man on the outside, you're just wasting your time. You are just whitewashing a tomb full of dead men's bones.

Matthew 23:25 Jesus Speaking)
25. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.
26. "Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.
27. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.
28. "Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Only God can give you a new heart.

Ezekiel 36:26
26. "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Sodomites and Sodomettes aren't gay, they're perverts.

There's nothing gay, happy, or joyful about being a pervert.

Many on the left side here have referenced the tie between Biblical morality and contemporary law. Most basic laws condemning crimes against society such as murder and theft predate the Hebrew Commandments; that is, they were present in pagan civilizations likely before Israel was even established. It just so happens that one of the first extensively chronicled societies to codify their law in writing, the Hebrews, coalesced matters civil and religious. Therefore some of their Commandments still make sense in any modern civilization, whereas others criminalizing sacrilege and blasphemy don't work quite as well in a society that calls itself secular. Homosexuality, for instance, is primarily a crime of blasphemy in Levitical law as its real transgression lies in the disgust it brings God (Leviticus 18, "this is detestable"). If an entire society (or hemisphere in this case) doesn't recognize or worship that God, it makes little sense to expect them to adhere to a law on the basis that the crime disgusts a contentious God in whom they have no faith. This would only create an oppressive atmosphere reminiscent of twelfth-century Europe. In fact, many Christians (myself included) would strongly object to recriminalization of moral crimes in the manner of Hebrew tradition as a moral solution, as the testament and gospel of Jesus teaches that faith and repentance rather than corporeal retribution is the vessel to justification and salvation in the eyes of the Lord. Mercy is indeed a key and sadly irreconcilable rift between the philosophies of the Judeo-Christian and Muslim worlds that makes their revolutions unsuited for societies that strive for Christianization.

Each human has the right to watch pornography or engage in sexual acts that many may find 'wrong'. As long as both parties give consent, then I believe each person has the right to act as they wish.

If I want to touch my penis, I dont feel its anyones business to tell me otherwise. Personal belief and opinion should not and can not dictate individual liberties.

I believe in free choice. Do I use prostitutes? No. Do I watch porn? No. But do I believe that this means others can't do it? No!! It is individual choice. Moral revolution...honestly. I agree with earlier comments. Explain what you mean by moral and then I will discuss further.

This I agree with most out of these responses, well said. However, I'd like to propose to you the mere possibility of this "moral revolution": morals are built on faiths and beliefs, which often do not coexist even within groups of people. (Exhibit A: religion).

there is no "god" inside us. The Holy Spirit comes in our hearts once we get saved, but GOD wants us to help people know the truth, not keep it for ourselves, that's selfish. we need to tell people that what they're doing is wrong
