| Acts 2:38 Is The Method To Become A Christian. |
| The way to be born again of Water and Spirit is revealed in Acts 2:38. It is the plan of salvation for the New Testament Church.
Acts.2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
A lot of false-christians hate that verse because it proves that they aren't really Christians at all. |

Cool. Saw this as a related debate.
One of the few verses that combine repent and baptism for the remission of sins. The count is
heavily on the side of verses which do not add baptism into the equation.
The heavy count that do not include baptism in the forgiveness of sin also do not add the gift of
the Holy Ghost.
The baptizing of Jesus brought with it the Spirit of God descending....
Most verses combine baptism with the Holy Spirit.
All these facts taken into account, it would be my guess Acts 2:38 is addressing Repent for
remission of sins and baptism for the gift of the Holy Spirit. This would fit with the verses as a
whole.
Even if this verse was meant to include baptism for the remission of sins, there are many more
verses that don't. So while a person might want to take it to heart, the same person should be
quite ready to accept the fact that other people certainly wouldn't be required to be baptized for
the remission of sins.
Then again, depends on the "real" definition that the speaker wanted applied to remission. Could be
the speaker was addressing the important question of the day, which was how after accepting the
forgiveness of sin was a person supposed to continue living without sin? Read a few chapters in
Romans for this hot topic.
Being baptized was the physical depiction that the flesh was dead and raised a new creature. I don't
think the Holy Spirit is spooky. I think the Holy Spirit brings the knowledge of forgiveness to
those who first believed. Baptism would be an act depicting the understanding of this knowledge.
Anyway, while Acts 2:38 may be a method in becoming a form of christian, it certainly is not the
only method of becoming a Christian. |
