An actors job is to lie and pretend to be someone else. If this is part of their everyday life it
will obviously seep into their personality as a matter of habit. That's how the human brain works |

Actors lie all the time |

Actors have the potential to be good liars, but they do not lie in the sense to hurt or to cover up
something. When actors act, not lie, on movies, it's not even real, I mean, last time I checked,
Darth Vader isn't real. |

When actors or actresses sign up for a part, they are fully aware that it is their job to play that
character. It's not like they tell people that everything that happened in the story is true. |

They have to lie on stage its their job |

They would only be lying if they didn't admit that it was fake. And when was the last time an actor
told people that a movie they were in actually happened? |

No sparton76 Your right to disagree with the statement, actors don't lie because people don't
perceive it as such. Even Billy Lier (Tom Courtney) wasn't lying.
What I find intriguing is how some actors and performers, carry out there representation in their
own lives.
Their portrayal becomes a portrayal of themselves. They Talk the Talk Walk the Walk and act the act. |

An actors job is to pretend and to generate a representation of a stereotype in society. This is not
lying or deciet and I don't think people look at actors this way. |

No. Actors are making a visual representation of words someone wrote on a page, in order to fully
display the story for you.
Writers, are the original creators of all things: Actors just act-out/display, visually, the story
created.
Acting, as a trade, or job, is not lying. It is acting. |

Actors play a role..
It is not their intention to lie..
It is their talent to act, not to lie..
Acting is essentially not lying..
It is a profession..
Actors are one of those people who give us entertainment.. |

I spent six years acting with a professional improve troupe. My director was always on my case for
leaving too much of my real personality in the characters. |

Acting is job. True, not much of one, but it have nothing to do with lying. |

Acting is not about lying. Acting is about expressing human emotions and personality. |

How can you say such a thing?
I am very offended because i am one myself!!!

You can't call all actors liars |
| |
|

I disagree! It would only be fair to call actors something as strong as a liar if they told you to
believe what they are saying was true. Actors simply play their characters for entertainment
purposes and they assume whichever character they are playing in its full detail the purpose here is
not to trick you it is simply to entertain you. Disclaimers that run before or after a program
usually state that you are not to think that the play is based on reality on someone’s life it is
fiction and meant for pure entertainment. This proves that actors are not liars. |

Everyone lies but I doubt your opinion on actors are 'essentially' liars. I know many
actors/actresses (not famous ones) and they aren't essentially liars. Based on media on "hollywood"
actors/actresses i seriously doubt they are essentially liars. Just because they play a role of an
essential liar doesn't mean they are one. The lack of honesty in this world is high. Actors do have
a part in this, just like most everyone else. |

I disagree to the fact that i am one we not all liars granted we do have some that are. |

Actors and deceitful people are not synonyms. Nobody is claiming when you go to a movie, that
Cameron Diaz is actually Charlie's Angel. No where will Toby McGuire ever publicly say he can shoot
spiderwebs from his hands and hang onto walls.
They put on performances because people like to use their imaginations and slip into other people's
lives for a few hours. I don't think anybody holds actors accountable for lying about their identity
in a movie. |

"Liars" isn't the most appropriate term. They can't be liars if we know what they do is fake.
"Actors" sounds like a more appropriate term to me. |
| |
|

|

Not necessary it is for an actor to be a liar. It is a fact that what the actors say may be on stage
or in front of the camera, is untrue or not connected to their real life situation but that is a
part of their work like the way we do our work in some profession or the other. Actors bring in a
character through their verbal qualities, expressions or other gestures but that nowhere states that
they have got anything to do with lying. In general sense, don’t we lie to anyone about anything,
are we actors?? If we are not, then what will be the reason for an actor to lie?? We can say that
actors are not necessarily liars. |

Acting is not about lying. It's not about pretending or convincing some that something is not true.
Actors are not liars, they are people who reveal the truth to the audience, who come to hear the
truth. Although they often do not know it, it is the only place that they can hear or see the truth
often in this world.
Actors are not liars, they go on stage to reveal something truthful. Actors reveal the character of
the play, through the truth of their actions and the veracity of the words that they speak.
The confusion comes when an actor is told to think, feel or emote a lie, to pretend to be something
that they are not, to pretend to think, or feel as a character in a play, rather than simply doing
their job, which is to tell the truth. Truthful acting does not call attention to itself, truthful
acting is compelling because one does not know what will happen next because it has not been
contrived, invented or created out of a lie.
Actors do not lie. They show the truth. They do not make up their responses, they should not fake
emotions or feelings and when poor actors do, the audience can see, feel, sense the lack of the
truth, they know it's fake and they feel cheated. They get used to it though, but the quality of
the performance is generally poor. |
