Acting Is The Easiest Job
Actors love to pat each other on the back and claim how tough their job is and how marvellous each other are but for the most part it is something that virtually anyone could do. I will make exceptions for the very best, Pacino, etc but your everyday Eastenders actor or from the average Hollywood movie it is unskilled work. I could do as good a job as most of them and I have never acted in my life.

I have to say that some people have a natural ability to act while others, no matter how hard they try, couldn't act if you held a gun to their heads Keanu reeves is an example of a horrible actor. Sean Penn(although I dismiss his political views) is a fine actor as well is Harrison Ford and Dame Dench. It takes years of training and heartaches to get your shot and the work involved is overwhelming. To make someone feel your emotions when you are not present is extreemly difficult. Take for instance"An affair to remember" with Cary Grant. When he realizes that the woman he loves is crippled the range of emotions on his face was awe inspiring. I could feel what he felt. That is the sign of a great actor. To make us feel

I can't act, but I know people who can. It doesn't seem like a very demanding job.

Ah! There are different types of actors now aren't there - the REAL actors, the soap actors and the celebrity actors. Long term soap actors just plod along - seemingly playing themselves - year after year. The celebrity walk on parts and then of course the REAL actors.

I have never acted either but, I am sure there is a role for me in Eastenders!!!!

eastenders gosh where did they find all those unattractive brits? I think that show was meant for coal miners and prostitutes. there are so many shows on bbc that are far better, As time goes by, waiting for God, keeping up appearances, ect

I agree with myself. As usual. Most of the skill comes from learning the lines. Once that is done the rest is easy. If this were not the case why is it that so many roles are filled by rich kids who get to the top because of their parents. How can any sports star, or musician make the switch to acting so easily. You wouldn't find a rapper just becoming a nurse or a lawyer without years of training. Anyone can act to a certain standard, it is easy.

This is incorrect. On the contrary, acting is one of the HARDEST jobs you can ever have.

Not true. So many B-list actors...and few A-List.
There is a reason for that: Talent.

I believe acting would be an incredibly hard and stressful job. You have to authentically live someone else's life and get rid of all the accents of your own life, like speaking another language unerringly. You have to dredge up bigger than life emotions and not have it overwhelm you. You have to move perfectly and take the most acerbic direction.

I was in a play once and I had a line where I supposed to ask, Got that? A Lot of people thought I said Goddamn. I gave up acting.

As an actress, I can say that it's much more than just reading lines in front of an audience. It's not as easy as people make it out to be.

On the contrary, I admire actors for their talent. I watch really good actors and actresses and think, "Wow, how in the world do they do that?" Most of us can't act to save our lives.

I disagree, I think acting is a difficult job. You have to be able to show emotion on demand and make it seem real.

If you are on stage you have to project your voice, be able to pull of emotions, anunciate, remember lines, remember stage directions, remember cues, I am an actress at school. It is not easy. Right now we are doing The Music Man, and the boy playing Winthrop is trying to get the lisp correct.

You have to learn your lines, act the right way, fit the part, look exactly what they want you to look like, and be almost perfect. Sound easy?lol

Not that i do, just from observations

If that was true, then anyone could do it and it wouldn't pay so much.

Anyone could do it. Tom Cruise earns as much as anyone in the business. It isn't that he is a great actor it is just that he has a large fanbase, so his name on the credits sells the film. For that reason he can demand a huge fee. There are plenty of others that could do the same job just that their reputation isn't the same.

I disagree, Actors have dozens of lines to remember, indefinite amounts of time, and energy to put in, and are held to strict standards of lifestyle to more perfectly relate to the character they are portraying. And so it is because of this that many actors suffer emotional and psychological disorders. Now of course not all do. Actors do not get paid as much as you would think, many work 2nd or 3rd jobs just pay rent. You see what Hollywood wants you to see. And acting does take training, some people have more natural talent than others. Anyone can recite lines, but not everyone can act realistically.

It is not necessary to train to act. Loads of people have fallen into it by chance out of nowhere. Lucky breaks play a huge role in success. OK their are greats and really good actors but they are an exception to the trade. In no other job would those who are very average reach such heady heights in their profession.

They suffer emotional and psychological disorders because they are weak minded and take far too much drugs. That and they love a bit of drama, whereas other people just pull their socks up and get on with things.

Actors do get paid very well if they get any work. All they need is 2 adverts a year and a bit of panto and they have an average wage. I know one, a right luvvie prat, he is talentless but still gets a few minor parts and does quite well financially. I could do his job later on today, on my way home from work.

Within the context of most roles especially roles that come up these days you are absolutely correct. But I’m going to disagree with you for two reasons.
1) because no one else has,
2) Because at its most demanding acting is something that very few people (including most professional actors) are capable of.
