A Little Bit Of Flooding In England Shouldn't Be Called "flooding Of Biblical Proportions"
Oh so Cumbria got a little bit damp, a little bit of rainfall, a few flooded houses, not exactly the end of the world is it? And only one person has died this time round, I don't mean to sound callous but why do people in this country go so over the top about a little bad weather. America suffers from terrible weather all the time and they live through it, sometimes I do think our country is a bit pathetic.

The flooding in Cumbria is quite bad by UK standards, but let's not get excited. The Asian Tsunami was biblical, not this.

I haven't heard those reports but I'd agree that unless land is disappearing under water as far as the eye can see then the flooding is not "biblical" in proportion.

The phrase "biblical proportions" should be used to refer to nonexistent things since it's based on nonexistent things.

Now, if they want to compare that rainstorm to a typhoon, they can go ahead. Those exist.

Maybe biblical proportions aren’t really that impressive. How bad would it have to be to impress a bunch ignorant savages living in mud huts? I’m just saying, let’s put things in perspective. Things were closer to the bone then; one bad storm that we would hardly notice could mean children going hungry, or dad never coming home. So biblical proportion might not mean what we think it means.
