| 73% Of All Suicide Deaths Are White Males...white Men And Cold Weather Don't Mix. |
| I was doing research on elderly suicide and the above struck me. In a country where white males have the greatest advantage over any social, economic, racial, influentual, control...you name it. White males are not happy and are blasting their head off and the top 10 American states are listed from highest rate of suicide to lowest. Alaska, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico Wyoming, Colorado Idaho, West Virginia, Oregon, Vermont, South Dacota. The most being colder regions. Cold Weather and White Men don't mix. |

It makes sense to me--"In a country where white males have the greatest advantage over any social,
economic, racial, influentual, control."-- That means they usually have the most to lose. |

That sounds about right. Fact is women attempt suicide as much or more often than men but they tend
towards less violent less disfiguring methods such as pills that are also quite a bit less
effective. |

White males know how to get the job done, eh?
OK, seriously, the problem with the stats is it assumes a causal link between the climate in those
states and suicide. Could it simply be life in general sucks more in those areas than other places?
The lame jobs and high boredom factors in many of those places may be to blame more than the
weather. And why isn't Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, Wisconsin, Minnesota, etc
listed in those suicide totals, those places all get very cold too? |

White males are a majority. This means a couple of things. It means there are many of them. It also
means there are quite a few that haven't reaped the benefits of being a white male.
It also means you have to run the numbers on the percentages of white males compared to the
percentages of whatever group you are comparing to. |

Florida all the time. Sweating at night because its 80 degrees and near 100% humidity? Why live? I
wonder if the Vikings had a high suicide rate... |
